Mark interviewed by BBC London News re submachine gun plot
Convicted robber Alexander Mullings, 24, used Parcelforce to smuggle in the Skorpion sub-machine guns after ordering them from his prison cell using a smart phone.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police seized three of the weapons as they were being delivered to addresses in London. However, at least five more of the Skorpion vz61s have fallen into the hands of London gangs and have not been recovered.
Two Skorpion sub-machine guns were used in attacks in London in 2014, in one case a police community support officer was shot at while on gang patrol in Hackney. In another case bullets were fired at a house in east London.
Today Mullings and his girlfriend Emily Ciantar, 20, were found guilty at the Old Bailey of conspiracy to possess firearms with intent to endanger life.
BBC London’s Guy Smith, interviewed Mark who described why criminals are attracted to this type of gun (click on link below).
