General firearms and ammunition classification

All areas of firearms and ammunition identification and classification under the Firearms Act 1968 can be undertaken. Even the question of whether or not a gun is a firearm is not always straight forward – a thorough knowledge of the primary legislation together with all the relevant case law coupled with an in-depth knowledge of firearms design and wound ballistics is required. In the near future the definition of what a firearm is will change to a quantitative definition; it will depend on the kinetic energy possessed by the projectile. Trained scientists familiar with the methodology and equipment used are best placed to robustly challenge quantitative statements of supposed fact. FFC offers this expertise.

Police forces up and down the country are struggling with obtaining good forensic science facilities.

The Westminster Commission on Forensic Science is deeply worried about the instability of forensic science services in our country.
